Man Who Built World's Fastest Mobility Scooter Holds Four Other Records [w/video]

We like folks that are as creative and handy as Colin Fruze. The UK man has built the world’s fastest mobility scooter, so now folks can get to Wal-Mart even faster! Believe it or not though, his title as “world’s fastest” has been a disputed one. In 2013, two separate groups built high speed mobility scooters– you know, the same ones you find at a senior center. One back in April came out of Sweden, while another group back in July built one that was attempting to achieve a world record. RELATED: DIY Pedal Powered Porsche is a Different Kind of Green Car

Fruze’s mobility scooter has a two-stroke gas engine where the batteries and electric motor used to be. The scooter can routinely make 70-mph runs, and was even able to reach 82 mph on one run. On that run, the tires gave out as he was slowing down, luckily he was able to keep the vehicle under control. RELATED: Car Made from 500,000 Legos Runs on Compressed Air
That 82-mph run puts him in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest mobility scooter on the planet. It’s one of five records that Fruze holds, including world’s largest bonfire, world’s longest motorcycle, world’s fastest pram (baby carriage) and world’s fastest toilet. So, what have you done today?
