Zenvo and Top Gear at Odds Over Poor ST1 Review [W/Video]
If you live across the pond — or managed to find a decent torrent — you've likely seen the latest episode of Top Gear. You know, the one where they drive the 1,004 horsepower Zenvo ST1 on the track…and then it catches on fire:
Yeah, as you would imagine, the folks over at Zenvo weren’t too pleased with that review (nor the poor lap time). And like Tesla before it who blamed Clarkson for the poor assumption, Zenvo is taking hitting the internet. And they're not pleased.
According to Zenvo’s website, “extreme drifting by Top Gear drivers,” was the cause of the clutch issues. And regarding the faulty intercooler that caused the fire, it was put through “more than one hour of intensive high speed testing and 50 liter of fuel consumed.”
And if that wasn’t enough, the 1,004-horsepower Zenvo lapped the Top Gear test track slower than a lowly Ford Focus ST. To that, Zenvo cited “low temperature and extreme rain,” which resulted in, “a lap time that does not reflect the true potential of the car in dry conditions.”
Zenvo just hopes that they’ll be able to take the ST1 back to the track and test it in fairer conditions.
