Apple Snuggling up to Tesla for Electric Car Development?
There’s one thing that technology powerhouse Apple has yet to put on its expanding resume — a car. The idea of an Apple iCar has been teased in the past, but not until recently have we seen any movement. And now it may lead to production. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Apple’s merger and acquisition chief Adrian Perica sat down and to chat with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. This came around the same time analysts were suggesting Apple purchase the automaker. PHOTOS: See More of the 2012 Tesla Model S
While there’s no word exactly what the two had in mind when they met last Spring, Apple reported a $525M spending spree last month on deals outside of the company that could mean even further business ventures.
As you may remember, this isn’t the first time Apple has had a hand in the industry. Working closely with companies like BMW, Mercedes and Toyota, Apple would have a technological leg-up on the competition if it so decides to take on the auto industry. We'll be watching the progress of this initiative closely.
