Your Ride: 1985 Saleen Ford Mustang T-Top
One of our readers, Scott, has an affinity for all things Mustang. The owner of two Mustangs previous, a few years back he picked up one of the rarest of all Mustangs — an 85 Saleen T-Top. Only eight 85 Saleens were ever built with the T-Top, and Scott knew just how lucky he was to find one. The third convertible pony car in his collection, we don’t doubt this rare find has to be one of his favorites. Read the full story here:
How did you acquire your ride?
I owned several Mustangs, currently own a 1966 and 2000 convertible when I bought this one. Had coupes, convertibles, hatches, fastbacks, but never a T-top. My son found this one on AutoTrader, it was more than what I planned on spending and was 3 1/2 hours away so I kinda dismissed it. When I saw it again still for sale I researched the car by its number (85-115).
What drew you in when you bought it?
After finding out the history of the car and that it was a well documented, completely original 1985 Saleen, first full production year, only 140 85's made and this was 1 of only 8 with T-tops I had to have it.

Does it have a name?
My son's girlfriend named her Sally, not because of Mustang Sally, but because Sally is short for Saleen.
What do you feel like when you drive it?
I feel 10-feet tall driving it knowing there were so few made, it's something you can't just run do the dealership and buy. I can't help but to smile when people watch me drive by or say "awesome car" or "sweet!"
What would you change about your car, if anything?
I don't think I'd change anything with the car, it's hard for car nuts not to modify their rides, but this one has to stay original.
What have you done to make it a bolder ride?
The only things I've done to make it bolder was to get Steve Saleen's wife, Liz, and daughter, Molly, to sign the dash next to his autograph and some minor engine "tweaks" that can't be seen. My only dream accessory for this ride would be Molly sitting in the passenger seat.
