10 Great Auto-Centric Stocking Stuffers
Christmas is almost here, but there’s still enough time to pick up a few small items for the car guy or girl in your life. Here are 10 gift ideas they’re sure to love. 1) Visor Organizer
Everybody has stuff they would like to keep close at hand while driving: an insurance card, a favorite CD, sunglasses, spare change, whatever. These handy items clip right to the overhead visor and make organization of small items a snap.

2) Traveler Compass
Those of us who were in the Scouts or the Army learned how to use a map and compass. Once you’ve mastered the basics of this skill it’s nearly impossible to ever get lost again. But, while maps are easy to find in most vehicles, a compass is another story. These handy little devices clip onto the dash and are fun to look at as well.
3) Bungee Cords
Everyone needs a few of these from time to time– for any number of auto-related tasks or solutions. You can find small containers of bungees at your local retailer that will slip tight into most stockings.
4) Litter Bag
It’s easy to get a car dirty, especially if it does double-duty as an office or dining hall. These bags are perfect for making sure the empty soda can and burger wrapper don’t end up underneath the rear seats.

5) Digital Tire Gauge
Keeping tabs on tire pressure is like brushing after every meal: we should all do it, but often we don’t have a chance to. These little items make it easy to check the pressure during the weekly fill-up or trip to the car wash. Digital technology makes modern units easier to read than old-school ones, but are not always as accurate as the needle readouts of traditional gauges.
6) Cleaning/Polishing Wipes
Vehicle interiors take a lot of abuse, even though we don’t always notice it. Dirt, dust, and sunlight all take their toll on materials, leaving them stained or cracked over time. Using these wipes from time to time will help to keep your recipient’s car or truck looking good.
7) First Aid Kit
This is one item that should be in every vehicle. But not everyone needs an expedition-grade kit designed to carry into the depths of the Amazon or the summits of Everest. Most retailers carry pocket-sized kits that are perfect as stocking stuffers. They’ll have a few bandages and maybe some antiseptic cream and pain relievers; just enough to soothe a small cut or bruise.
8) Emergency Reflective Triangle
Like a first aid kit, this is a must-have for every car or truck. Each year, fatalities occur due to passersby not noticing a broken-down vehicle on the roadside. These triangles stand out on the darkest nights, notifying other drivers and passing police units.
9) Ice/Snow Scraper
The average state driver’s license is far from indestructible. That’s a lesson many folks, myself included, have learned when they tried using theirs to clear off an ice- or snow-covered windshield. A good scraper can do the job and still let the recipient prove his or her age at the local tavern.
10) Tire Inflator
Okay, you’ll need a pretty big stocking if you’re going to have room for this contraption. Nonetheless, it’s handy for those times when you’re five miles from the nearest service station and you get a flat. Just don’t rely on it for long periods, unless you enjoy the kinds of adventures that only come along after your car breaks down. Hint: those are rarely fun.
