Do Cars of 'Family Guy' Reveal Who Killed Brian Griffin?
For those of you who still actually watch Family Guy, the recent buzz has been around Seth MacFarlane and the show’s creators killing off one of the show’s best characters, the family dog Brian Griffin. Well, MacFarlane managed to pull a “Who Shot JR” and “It was all a dream” as just three weeks later, Stewie went back in time and saved Brian. Aside from being a real “eff-you” to whoever still watches the show religiously, it was also an attention grab. It worked, because I tuned in to the episode where they brought back Brian, and watching it got me thinking. In the screen grab from right before the accident, we see the car that struck Brian, and it is a 2011-to-2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe. It is a pretty accurate portrayal of the luxury coupe, so why go through that trouble? Will we eventually learn who is really was behind the wheel? After the way they have treated the fans up to this point, it would not be a surprise if there is a plot line tied to whoever is driving that car, and if that person turns out to be someone familiar to the show.
Family Guy creators use computers to create pretty accurate portrayals of real cars. Just look at the family station wagon (above) a 1975 Ford LTD Wagon. And then there’s Brian’s Toyota Prius (below).
So to the question at hand– who has the means in the show for a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but is also reckless and would drift around a corner, hitting a talking dog holding hockey equipment, and keep on going?
Well Quagmire’s car is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, so that rules him out.
In older episodes, Family Guy took cracks at George W. Bush for his drinking-and-driving days. But W drives a 1967 Pontiac GTO in the show.

Could it be Carter Pewterschmidt? The man is wealthy can occasionally capable of erratic behavior, but drives a Bentley Continental R. He has multiple vehicles, so it is possible. Perhaps Carter learned that his money was being used to help the less fortunate, as was on his was to put a stop to it. Perhaps.
Consider the fact that Family Guy has been using time travel as a crutch well before they fake-killed-off their best characters, in the pursuit of keeping the show relevant. Well that means it could be a character from one of the other timelines. The first prominent character involved in the time travel stories was older Stewie from the future. But that Stewie drives a GM EV-1, and as far as we can tell is too sedate to be driving like that. Though perhaps something is making him drive fast, thus also out of control. We doubt it though.
So there is also the chance it could be Stewie OR Brian from an alternate timeline. Combine that with the fact they crashed this Ferrari Enzo.

But lets look at who really exhibits questionable judgement. It could certainly be Mayor Adam West. The Quahog town leader is always up to strange behavior, and hi-jinx are plentiful. But the last time we checked, the mayor was driving a 1969 Cadillac DeVille Convertible. Here we see him jumping into a pile of toxic waste way back in season 3.

One might also consider that the show would do another crossover between itself and American Dad, another MacFarlane creation. There are plenty of nut jobs in that show capable of such crazy driving. For one there’s Roger the Alien, but Roger drives his prized 1997 Toyota Camry.
There is CIA Dept. Director Bullock, who is always up to no good. But Bullock drives a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, and various other CIA vehicles.

If it was a crossover character from American Dad, it would most likely be Principal Brian Lewis. The character is routinely drinking and driving, and has been known to pronounce cocaine, as “cue-cane.” Just look at him here, behind the wheel of a totaled Toyota Camry Solara.
No, there is only one man with the means, with the erratic, behavior and (if it was not an accident) the motivation to take out Brian and that is none other than James Woods. In addition to having a deep hatred for Peter Griffin, he probably also hates Brian, who helps Peter every time they foil Woods’ plans.
But unfortunately, we seldom see Woods behind the wheel, and it never appears to be the same car. I’m sure we’ll find out in a few episodes who “killed” Brian. Good money is on Woods, because MacFarlane has been mailing it in with Family Guy for years and this is an easy solution.
We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
