Sierra/Silverado 6.2L V8 Achieves 21MPG, Max Trailering Pkg. Detailed
GM has been bragging about its new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and its GMC counterpart, Sierra Denali. The luxury pickups were supposed to get uprated power as well. Now we have more information, as GM confirms fuel economy and trailering specs of the 6.2-liter V8 powering both trucks. We knew the V8 engine would produce 420 horsepower and 460 pound feet of torque, but we now know that it also achieves 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, in RWD form. Opting for 4WD drops mileage slightly to 14 city, 20 highway.
GM also outlined the Max Trailering package for its 355-hp, 5.3L engine. It features enhanced cooling equipment, automatic locking differential, beefed up rear leaf springs, and beefed up rear axle with 3.73 gearing ratio. The package is available on either RWD or 4WD models and for either double cab or crew cab configurations, and also includes revised shock tuning and a trailer brake controller.

When properly equipped, this system allows the Sierra and Silverado (even with the smaller 5.3L V8) to achieve an 11,500-lb. max towing capacity. No small numbers for sure. GM has not yet stated pricing for this option set.
