Your Ride: 1974 Chevy K5 Blazer

In 1969, GM released the Blazer into the Chevy lineup, making it the smallest full-size SUV Chevy made at the time. With a full convertible removable top available until 1975, the Blazer and its counterpart the GMC Jimmy, soon became instantly recognizable among enthusiasts alike. Our friend Tim has been a hardcore SUV enthusiast since day one. And his '74 K5 Blazer is the epitome of the Blazer that Chevy had in mind from the beginning.

How did you acquire your ride? I bought from a dealer online after a number of conversations and some counsel from an expert car buyer. What drew you to it when you bought it? I have always been fascinated with the 70s trucks with the removable tops, including the Broncos, Scouts and Blazers. When I saw this one I knew it was the one if I gave it a little work. Does it have a name? Pretty boring, but the kids have named it "Blue."

What do you feel like when you drive it? I just got it a month ago and drive it every chance I can get. Nothing more fun than cruising around Chicago in the summer with this thing. What you would change about your car, if anything? I need to get the AC working at some point and re-work the electrical. But for the most part, I want to keep it simple and just enjoy driving the hell out of it. What have you done to make it a bolder ride? I bought a soft top, a new stereo, new hubcap covers, as well as gave it a complete detailing and buff job. Not too much overall actually.

Dream accessory for it and why? A third row so I can pile in more folks that want to ride in it. Thanks to Tim for sharing his awesome ride with us!
