Aston Martin Previously Owned by Leonard Bernstein Sells For $825K

Ah the Bonhams auction, truly the place to sell goods of a rarefied air. We were at the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance yesterday (more on that later) and was dumbfounded by what we saw. In addition to plenty of gorgeous classics, there was a plethora of vintage automobilia from signs to parts. But if you were interested in the show-stopper, it was the 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Volante. Not only was this vehicle just one of 29 ever made, but it was once owned by American composer and conductor, Leonard Bernstein. This rarity earned its sale, at an impressive $825,000. The car was purchased by an overseas bidder, beating out the competition under the tent. With Bonhams employees on laptops and phones surrounding the auctioneer, it is not uncommon for those not present at the auction to throw around the big bids. Watching the auction gave us an opportunity to check out some of the very cool automobilia. It is the most underrated part of an event like this. Want proof?
