Five Reasons the Bugatti Veyron is the Most Overrated Car on the Planet

There's been a lot of talk lately about the almighty Bugatti Veyron. It's fast, it's French, it's awesome- yada yada yada. And while everybody and their grandmother thinks it's the greatest gift to this green earth, I think it's overrated. When you peel back the layers of this automotive onion, you see that most of that supercar "glory" is only but skin deep. Like an expensive Taiwanese call girl. Sure, it may be fast and it may be expensive, but the Bugatti Veyron isn't that great, and any new 1,600-hp Super Veyron will be even more so. Here's a few reasons as to why this is: 5.) It's Ugly:

Sir, if you think that the Bugatti Veyron is a good looking car, you must go and get your opticals examined immediately. It looks like a whale dressed up for Halloween (SS, at least). The idea that it was designed in a wind tunnel is great and all, but have you seen the Lexus LFA? Have you seen the Koenigsegg Agera? Those vehicles are wind-tunnel-tested, but they don't come out on the backend looking like marine mammals. Actually, far from it. 4.) It's Too Fast:

Us NASCAR-loving Americans have always been obsessed with the idea of power and sexy dirty speed (ie: Hennessey, SSC), but the French/Germans, well, they've always been about refinement while dosing out power in healthy heavings. So the Bugatti Veyron- we're not sure what they were thinking. 1,200-hp is an undriveable, unbearable amount of power. Corners? Forget about it. But, all this speeeeeeeeeed does lead up to my next point… 3.) It's a Display of Company Power:

VW Group is powerful, we get it. A 1,200-hp supercar with all the bits and pieces costing over $1M is all well and good, but VW nor Bugatti actually makes any money on each Veyron sold. 2.) It's Too Damn Expensive:

Like, between $1M-$2.5M (if not more) expensive. Unless your a cash money millionaire, or whatever the hell they call themselves, this car is completely out of reach. And even for a million bucks or two, you could buy so many better things than this. Like a shit-ton of Mustang GTs, a few Nissan GTRs, an LFA...or three or five. Or all of those cars and a Scrooge McDuck style swimming pool of gold coins. Also, replacement tires- shipped from France only- cost about $70K for the whole process and the 16.4L engine, well, it wastes enough energy to heat 10 family-sized homes. Suck it, environment. 1.) It's French

I don't mind the French; I love their fries and their towers, (and this may be a bit of a shallow argument)  but they've never been ones to be associated with automotive prowess. Yes, I know what you're thinking, technically the Germans built this car with German materials, but it's assembled in France, by French engineers. And the rest is automotive history…. We just hope Bugatti stops being crazy for five minutess and goes back to doing things like this, or this, or better yet, cut your losses and do things like this. And don't make it cost one-grillion dollars.
