Bold Ride of the Week: Detroit Electric SP:01

Coming off a busy week in NYC and more new car reveals than these fingers could handle, it's been a bit of a slow week for automakers as of late. Thankfully, that didn't stop newly reborn Detroit Electric from showing off the world's fastest electric-production sportscar- the SP:01. The Lotus Exige-based sportscar is indeed the fastest of it's kind. With a top speed of 155 mph and a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds, all that torque is sent to the rear-wheels via a four-speed manual (that's right, manual) transmission.

On the outside, the aforementioned Lotus base is a handsome looking thing, given some minor detailing by the Detroit Electric Design team. The candy blue (and orange) also give the SP:01 that "electric" feel on the road. Overall, the $135K sportscar may not be cheap, but it is a looker, and it takes off just where the Tesla Roadster left off. PHOTOS: See more of the Detroit Electric SP:01
