Chevy SS Banned in Israel Due to Nazi Related Naming

The SS moniker has been around Chevrolet since the early days of the company. Prevalent on nearly every model from the Camaro to the lowly HHR. Now though, a problem has arisen with their latest rear-drive V8 sedan known simply as the SS. It won't be sold in Israel in fears of the SS moniker re-introducing the country to the images of the Nazi SS (or, Schutzstaffel) group prevalent during WWII. Chevy's SS moniker (which of course stands for "Super Sport), was connected by the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial manager Barauch Shuv, who stated that the SS "will not bring them pride or success". As we don't associate Chevy or their simple use of the SS suffix with the Nazi party, we're not exactly sure what to make of this story...
