First Production Corvette Stingray Fetches $1.1M At Barrett-Jackson Auction [w/ video]

This past Saturday night will go down as one to remember in the automotive auction world. Along with the original Batmobile, a rare set of Shelbys and Clark Gable's 300SL, the very first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was among the highlights at the Barrett-Jackson auction. The very first example of the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette was on the block, and the buyers even had choice of color scheming and options. GM's global vice president Ed Welburn was even on hand to stir up even more interest. After the dust settled, the Stingray sold for a cool $1.1M ($700K more than the very first SRT Viper, mind you) to NASCAR team owner and Chevrolet aficionado Rick Hendrick. All the proceeds of the sale will be headed to charity. Source: Barrett-Jackson,
