5 New Cars That We Want Stateside

Here in the good ol' US of A, we tend to have a healthy heaping of new cars that come and go every year like dust in the wind. Some good, some better, and hell, some great. But if there's one itch that I can't scratch, it's the fact that there's still a boatload of sexy European cars that haven't set foot on American soil. Why's that? Why can't I find a local Citroen or Dacia dealer? Why are brands handing over all the good models to the Europeans? Most of these questions are, well, are pretty easy to answer considering market demographics, exchange rates, etc., but, let's pretend none of that business crapola existed. If we could have any five new cars from overseas, these would be it. Honda Civic

If you haven't already heard, we have a Honda Civic here in the U.S. For the most part, it's been the affordable, fun, quirky little Japanese car that everyone loves. Lately though, Honda's been too busy apologizing for the shit job they did on the last one to realize that we need an all new one. Maybe something like this. The Euro-spec Honda Civic, not only looks better (for most), but is more practical, more efficient with diesel options and arguably more fun to drive. Why don't we just have the euro-spec instead of, urgh, this? Citroen DS

I know, I know, I've heard it all before; the U.S. just won't embrace the hatchback/wagon. Although, I'm not completely sure why. When companies like Ford and Chevy released cars like the Sonic and Fiesta, I've tended to see more of those horrendous sedans than the better looking hatches. But I digress... The Citroen DS line; spanning models like the DS3, DS4 and DS5, are a staple of the French automaker and some of the best looking models around. Not to mention, the Citroen DS3 Racing is- aside from gorgeous- as quick and nimble as any hatchback around. Wagons

Surprise! We want wagons. Of course we do. But thanks to a virtually dead market (other than us and some other guys who write about cars) automakers like Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW are keeping all the fun for themselves over in Bavaria. Le Sigh. Alfa Romeo 4C

Since the rise of Sergio Marchionne, we've heard rumors of the long lost Alfa Romeo nameplate finding itself washed up on U.S. beaches once again, beginning with the 4C. Bad news is, all this talk in the past years has lead to nothing but anticipation and heartbreak for many enthusiasts. Originally scheduled for 2012, then 2013, then 2014, now 2013 again; we can't keep up. What we do know is, we want it and we want it soon. Noble M600

This one is a bit of a dark horse. The extremely limited specialty automaker Noble- based and founded in Britain by longtime engineer Lee Noble- is known to produce one of the purest driving machines in the world. No traction control, limited electronics; just you, a manual gearbox and a 650 horses at your disposal. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it...
