SEMA 2012: Top Five Rides From Sin City

Every year at the SEMA show in Vegas, we get a wild, wacky and wonderful look at what the aftermarket world has to offer. From drag-ready Mustangs and Camaros to super-slammed Hyundais and Scions, there’s always something to look forward to. This year was no different. As the show begins to wrap up, we wanted to pick our five favorite of the most radical show cars from this years Sin City showdown. Ford Racing Mustang Cobra Jet

After the Ford Mustang took home the “Hottest Car” award at this years event, we couldn’t help but wonder if this little beauty had anything to do with it. The 2012 Ford Racing Mustang Cobra Jet Concept was just one of many tuned up ponies in attendance. Unlike most, this drag ready twin-turbocharged Mustang concept was built specifically with the quarter-mile in mind. Mazda MX-5 Super25

As we all know, the standard Mazda MX-5 has been one of the most beloved, simple and fun roadsters of all time. But the Mazda MX-5 Super25 on the other hand, is a whole bunch of roadster and then some. Paying tribute to Mazda’s 1991 Le Mans win, the Super25 comes dressed in a full racing suit including specialty wheels and tires, a full roll cage, a hardtop roof and of course, a Super Red Gloss paint scheme. ICON D200

In ICON’s full out assault in modernizing the best in classic automotive design, this year at SEMA, the group did not disappoint. Based off the classic D200 pickup, ICON managed to give the Dodge one-off a classic style mounted to a modern and functional Dodge 3500 Series chassis. This year, Chevrolet teamed up with everyone’s favorite toymaker to put together two very special memorable Camaros. Beginning with a modern-day Camaro, Hot Wheels added a signature touch of red pin striping throughout as well as badges and insignia galore. For the ‘67 though, Chevrolet revamped the iconic Camaro Hot Wheels, making it into a classic recreation sitting on a modern suspension and drivetrain including the same blue paint scheme and Hot Wheels detailing. And it is bad as hell. Every Scion FR-S

For us, it was damn near impossible to narrow down each and every single FR-S into one specific model model. From the Evasive Racer (pictured above) to the Minty Fresh, SuperStreet, Vortex; the list goes on. So we decided, well, we love all of ‘em. While we weren’t the only one’s who had an affinity for the FR-S, SEMA judges also seemed to take a liking to the highly tuneable coupe, naming it Hottest Sport Compact in show.
