Subaru BRZ STI Portended in Pair of Concepts in Sydney

While Subaru might be a Japanese company its marketing through the 90's made it synonymous with the Land Down Under. It should come as little surprise, that Subaru chose the Australian International Motor Show to debut a pair of significant cars to the rear-wheel-drive BRZ community (uh, who knew the Aussies had an int'l auto show?) PHOTOS: See more of the Subaru BRZ Perhaps the most badass of the pair is the BRZ Motorsport Project car. It is essentially a showcase for Subaru's performance accessories and options program. Goodies like roll cage (including installation- important!), Recaro bucket seats, six-point safety harness, fuel system upgrades, carbon fiber door panels, etc.

Lots of fun stuff, but wait- there's more! A higher-level package adds suspension and brake upgrades, improved wiring, HANS safety seats, and Enkei 18-inch wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R racing tires. All this amounts to a car that is a turbocharger away from being a BRZ STI. Speaking of which, Subaru also unveiled another BRZ shod in a wealth of STI visual upgrades, like ground effects, 17-inch alloy wheels, etc. Once again, the only thing missing is MORE POWER! These two cars give BRZ buyers a new (probably expensive) way to upgrade/replace parts if one were to embark on weekend racing. Honestly, we'll hold our breath until the real STI comes out, hopefully cranking 265 horsepower…if not, more!
