Kia GT Possibly Green-Lighted for Production
Remember the radical Kia GT concept? Sure you do. This one of a kind concept car was a first for Kia on many levels including their first rear-wheel drive platform, first four-bucket-seat interior layout, and with 390-hp from a 3.3-liter V6, their most powerful concept car to date. Now, after what seemed like an eternity of indecisiveness, new rumors from Motoring.com.au suggest that this RWD Kia sports sedan could actually find its way into production. According to chief design officer Peter Schreyer at this years Paris Motor Show, the GT has been a favorite among media and enthusiasts’ alike throughout the show circuits since its original debut last year. And with power and looks to kill, it’s hard not to agree.
While Kia was unable to outright confirm the green light for production, in reference to a production ready GT, Schreyer said that “the atmosphere is very positive at the moment.”
As the GT was not on stage in Paris this year, it could be a sign that the Kia team is closer to production than we think. If given the go ahead, expect a production ready GT as early as next years Detroit Auto Show.
