Sold Ride: Leno and Clooney Auction Off Cars for Charity
According to my mind, the only time George Clooney and Jay Leno have met in person was on the couch of the Tonight Show (although I am most likely wrong). But what these two mega-stars lack in, um, meeting each other, they more than make up for in amazing car collections. Hell, Jay Leno even struts his denim wearing self around in a new car every week for his internet series Leno's Garage. Although us poor people do tend to get a tad bitter over their large wealth, talent and denim wardrobe selections, it does our heart good to report on something extremely unselfish. Both stars will be auctioning off some of their boldest rides to support national and worldwide charity foundations.
Leno, as the Fiat enthusiast that we all know, will be parting with one of his more exclusive pieces, the 2012 Fiat 500 Prima Ediziones. The Prima Ediziones 500 is one of the first Fiat 500s to come off the production line in the U.S. This early 500 special edition is printed with the serial number "2," the only person ahead of Leno on the buyers list was Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne. All proceeds will benefit Fisher House Foundation which aids major military and VA medical centers.
Clooney on the other hand will be giving away his 2008 Tesla "Signature 100" Roadster at the upcoming Pebble Beach Auction. Serial number 0008, this special edition was one of the first ever Tesla Roadster electric sports cars to be sold when production began. All proceeds from his ride will benefit the Satellite Sentinel Project (SSP) which allows satellites to monitor the sensitive borders of the Sudan to ensure civil peace.
Cool guys, cool cars, and it all goes towards a noble cause. Gotta love it.
