Unveiled: Volvo S60 Polestar Performance Concept

It's no secret that the BMW M5 rules the big sedan performance market, and with new competition like the Lexus GS F, it's about time the Swedes jumped in on all the fun. Handing over the standard Volvo S60 to in-house tuners Polestar, this baby blue monster is looking to make mince meat of the competition.

The first thing that you will notice about the S60 Polestar, well, is the color. It's obvious that the special Polestar baby blue tends to stick out in a crowd. It's a refreshing feeling, in a land where big sedans usually sport the colors beige and vomit, a baby blue Volvo is pretty handsome. Other exterior changes include a completely updated body kit with a new front grille, side skirts and rear bumper. Also, some sharp Polestar rims give it a meaner look.

Under the hood (although we would have liked to see the V8 off an XC90), Volvo stuck with the proven T6 inline six that's good for 508 hp, just shy of the M5's 560 hp. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

To support all this new-found power, Polestar had to make some adjustments to the cloud-like suspension. Lowered 30mm and given a reinforced roll bar, the suspension is now a stiffened, race-ready piece of work. Inside, the S60 has been given the all-Alcantara treatment ranging from seats, to steering wheel, to shifter knob. See more of the Volvo S60 Polestar here
