Meet the Most Expensive Car in the World: $35M Ferrari 250 GTO

How much would you pay for a car these days? For most of us that number sits somewhere in the $20-$30K range, but when you are Dutch-born businessman Eric Heerema, that price comes in a little higher than most. This 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO delivered an astounding price tag of $35 million, now making it the most expensive car in the world. This beat out the likes of the former $32 million '64 Ferrari 250 GTO and the $34 million '36 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic. The car in question is chassis number 3505GT which made it specifically built for legendary driver Sterling Moss to be used in Le Mans. Although the car never did see the track under Moss due to a career ending crash, it did compete in Le Mans in 1962 giving it a racing pedigree. The irony behind this story lies in the fact that this race bred $35 million Ferrari will now just become another garage queen to sit and gather dust, what a shame.
