Holden Special Vehicles has prepared a trio of special editions to mark the end of road for the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 LS3 engine.

First up, the “SV Black” will be available for ClubSport R8 and Maloo R8 versions and as the name suggests, it brings a series of black accents. Lurking behind the Satin Black 20-inch wheels are forged four-piston AP Racing brake calipers also finished in black. To spice things up, HSV has applied a black finish on the door surrounds as well as for the lower door accenting.

HSV will add a shadow chrome look for the exhaust tips and a bunch of black badging to denote it’s not an ordinary model. There’s not much going on inside the cabin, but SV Black cars do receive unique sill plates and body-hugging sports bucket seats dressed in leather.

The SV Black special edition will enter production next month and will cost $62,990 for the Maloo R8 SV Black (limited to 350 units) and $65,990 if you go for the Clubsport R8 SV Black (limited to 100 units).

It will be joined in September by the Grange SV which will be even more exclusive, with only 50 cars planned for production at $86,990 apiece. These will ride on 20-inch Rapier Gloss Black forged alloy wheels and will have just about the same array of black body accents, along with shadow chrome exhaust tips. As it’s the case with the SV Black, the Grange SV cars will be individually numbered and will have unique sill plates.

Lastly, the ClubSport R8 Track Edition benefits from 20-inch Blade forged alloy wheels teamed up with yellow AP Racing forged six-piston brake calipers. It also has the performance suspension, a Hyperflow Performance spoiler, and a sports steering wheel covered in suede. 150 units for Australia will be made starting September and will be sold for $68,990.

At the heart of all three special editions is going to be a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine pushing out a meaty 456 horsepower (340 kilowatts) at 6,100 rpm and 421 pound-feet (570 newton meters) of torque at 4,650 rpm. A six-speed manual is standard for the SV Black and ClubSport R8 Track Edition, but HSV also offers an optional six-speed automatic that comes standard on the Grange SV.

HSV has revealed production of all LS3-powered cars is scheduled to come to an end in October, so these special editions will be the very last vehicles to be blessed with the mighty LS3.
