Ford France is celebrating the GT40’s legendary 1-2-3 win at the 1966 Le Mans with a special edition for several models.
The 50th Anniversary series is available for the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Focus RS, and the Mustang V8, with only 50 units of each to be made. There aren’t any color options available as all will share a Shadow Black Mica exterior paint scheme with gray racing stripes. The special finish has been selected as a nod to the Mk II GT40 driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at the 24-hour Le Mans endurance race of 1966.
Go for the Fiesta ST and Ford France will also throw in the Performance Pack which brings red brake calipers, 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels and illuminated door sill plates. In addition, the hot supermini also receives electrically-folding mirrors, parking pack, automatic headlights, cruise control, automatic windscreen wipers, and other goodies.
Pricing for the 50th Anniversary series kicks off at €27,200 for the Fiesta ST and goes all the way up to €47,100 for the coupe-only Mustang. All 200 buyers will also receive a matching watch and those who order the car before June 17 will get the chance to win a VIP access to this year’s Le Mans Classic and take a spin around the track with one of the cars part of the special edition lineup.
Half a century after the legendary win, Ford is making a comeback to Le Mans this year with the all-new GT. There's also a road-going car priced somewhere in the mid-$400,000 and the Blue Oval will kick off deliveries towards the end of the year.
