Sales in Britain scheduled to start in September.

Nearly a month ago Alfa Romeo started production of the long-awaited Giulia sedan at its Cassino plant near Rome. Now, the company has started hosting media events at the Centro Sperimentale di Balocco (Balocco Proving Ground) in northern Italy, where journalists are getting their first chance to drive the car.

Media test drives are the events where news are born and here we’ve got interesting information about the U.K. Alfa Romeo customers. They will be getting an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle-shifters as standard on all versions of the car.

Other standard features include 16-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, LED rear lamp clusters, dual-zone climate control, cruise control with speed limiter, and Connect infotainment system, as well as Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Brake with pedestrian detection, Integrated Braking System, and Lane Departure Warning systems.

At first, the engine range for the United Kingdom will consists of a 2.2-liter diesel unit (150 horsepower and 180 horsepower), and a 2.9-liter BiTurbo petrol motor with 510 hp, offered for the range-topping Giulia Quadrifoglio model.

In a typical Alfa fashion, the manufacturer has proudly announced all the technical details about the new Giulia, but it says sales of the car will, hopefully, start in about four months from now. Final UK specifications and pricing will be announced closer to the car’s market launch and until then, we’ll have to be satisfied with the photo gallery below.
