Production will be limited to 40 units.
Following a preview earlier this year, Donkervoort has officially unveiled the new D8 GTO-RS.
Set to be introduced this summer, the D8 GTO-RS is described as the ultimate D8 GTO as it is "meaner, more extreme, and slightly larger in size" than the standard model. The high-performance roadster also features a revised grille and improved aerodynamics.
Moving onto the interior, drivers will find themselves surrounded by premium leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.
Power is provided by an Audi-sourced 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that features an optimized engine management system that was created with the assistance of Bosch. The company declined to release performance specifications but said drivers can expect better acceleration and increased driving comfort. Donkervoort went on to say the partnership with Bosch has led to the development of several other lap time-enhancing features including launch control and a double-clutch function.
On the topic of performance, the D8 GTO-RS has been equipped with a new suspension, a high-performance braking system, and a wider track that promises to improve grip.
Production will be limited to 40 units and pricing starts at $173,826 (€151,173). That's certainly not cheap but that hasn't dissuaded buyers as Donkervoort was already received orders for 21 cars.
