We have stumbled upon an interesting spy image shot in France on the A26 motorway near Reims.
A couple of months ago, there was a rumor about a possible hardcore 675LT with more power wrapped in a lighter package bound for Geneva. That did not happen as the main star of McLaren’s stand at the Swiss show was the 570GT, a more practical and luxurious take on the company’s 570S Coupe.
The folks from Woking did tell us in an e-mail that McLaren Special Operations is working on a “customer commissioning based on the Super Series platform,” so something interesting is indeed in the works. That being said, we don’t know if it has anything to do with this car that was spotted a few days ago in France featuring a fixed rear wing and a roof scoop.
It looks quite sinister in this all-black body and from what we are seeing so far it’s likely a track-focused version of the long-tailed 675. If this is some sort of a more focused 675LT, it likely packs a bit more punch over the 675 horsepower (496 kilowatts) and weighs less than the 675LT’s 2,711 pounds (1,230 kilograms, dry).
More power combined with less weight should bring an improvement in terms of performance which is already very impressive in the 'regular' 675LT: 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in 2.9 seconds and 205-mph top speed.
Whatever this car stands for, it’s a sign of something properly fast to have fun with during a track day.
