Morgan has announced plans to introduce the new EV3 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Previewed by the EV3 prototype, the production model is based on the 3 Wheeler and features an electric powertrain.  Despite being based on an existing model, the electric vehicle will feature unique styling as it eschews the front-mounted petrol engine and appears to adopt new headlights that are integrated into the grille.

While the teaser image doesn't reveal much, Morgan Design Director Jonathan Wells told Autocar the EV3 will adopt some styling cues from the Delorean time machine that was prominently featured in the Back to the Future trilogy.

Little else is known about the model but it will reportedly have a rear-mounted electric motor that produces at least 75 horsepower and 96 pound-feet of torque.  This should enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 8.5 seconds before hitting at top speed of 100 mph.  Despite the EV3's small size, the model will reportedly have a range of up to 150 miles.

Morgan is keeping details under wraps but Managing Director Steve Morris said the EV3 is "... arguably the most exciting electric car in the world and our first production electric vehicle.”
