Ford has released new details about the Falcon XR6 and XR8 Sprint.

Set to go on sale in Australia in May, the limited edition models will feature black headlight bezels, new fog light surrounds, and 19-inch alloy wheels with a black finish.  The cars will also come equipped with a rear spoiler, body side graphics, and a Brembo braking system with gold calipers.

The XR8 Sprint will go one step further as it will be distinguished by a Silhouette black roof and black mirrors.

The interior largely carries over but designers added special seats which are upholstered in leather and suede.  Buyers will also find a unique shifter and a revised instrument cluster with Sprint badging.  Other niceties include a dual-zone climate control system, an electro-chromatic rearview mirror, a premium audio system, and a SYNC 2 infotainment system with GPS navigation.

The entry-level Falcon XR6 Sprint is powered by a turbocharged 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 435 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque. The model also has an overboost function which temporarily increases the output to 496 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque.

Moving up to the XR8 Sprint rewards buyers with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops 462 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque.  Those figures climb to 536 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque when overboost is factored in.

Production will be limited to 1,400 units and 850 of them will be high-performance XK8 variants.  The Falcon XR6 Sprint will be priced from $54,990 AUD, while the XR8 Sprint will start at $59,990 AUD.
