The Chicago Auto Show news continues as Ford has unveiled the 2017 Explorer XLT Sport Appearance Package.

Essentially a new variant that slots between the Explorer XLT and Explorer Limited, the model features a modestly revised exterior with Magnetic Gray accents on the grille, mirrors, and rear tailgate.  The crossover has also been equipped with Ebony Black body cladding, a roof rack, and 20-inch alloy wheels with a Magnetic Gray finish.  Rounding out the exterior changes is "Explorer" badging on the hood.

The upscale styling continues in the cabin as designers add two-tone seats with Dark Earth Gray leather bolsters and Dark Earth Gray Miko suede inserts.  The model also has Umber contrast stitching, suede door inserts, and Explorer-branded floor mats.

Since the model is based on the Explorer XLT, it comes nicely equipped with a 10-way power driver's seat, a SYNC 3 infotainment system, and an Intelligent Access system with a push-button ignition.

Power is provided by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque.  It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.

The Ford Explorer XLT Sport Appearance Package will go on sale this summer and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
