Based on the Crosstrek 2.0i Premium, the special edition features a Pure Red exterior with body-color mirrors that have integrated turn signals.

The Chicago Auto Show is right around the corner so Subaru has announced plans to introduce the 2016 Crosstrek Special Edition in the Windy City.

Based on the Crosstrek 2.0i Premium, the special edition features a Pure Red exterior with body-color mirrors that have integrated turn signals.

Bigger changes occur in the cabin as the model has been equipped with red contrast stitching on the steering wheel and shifter.  The special edition also has red interior lighting and revised trim with red inlays.

The model comes with a power moonroof, a keyless entry system, a push-button ignition, and an infotainment system with a 6.2-inch display.  Buyers will also find a rearview camera and an AM/FM/CD audio system with Bluetooth/USB/iPod connectivity.  The special edition comes standard with the All-Weather Package which includes heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, and windshield wiper de-icer.  Last but not least, there's an assortment of safety systems including Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Power is provided by a 2.0-liter Boxer engine that develops 148 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque.  The engine is connected exclusively to a continuously variable transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system.

Production will be limited to 1,500 units and the model is slated to arrive at U.S. dealers this spring.
