The Buick Avista concept was one of the stars of the North American International Auto Show so self described "automotive manipulator" Theophilus Chin has created some renderings of an Avista convertible.
Looking absolutely stunning, the pictures show a stylish and upscale convertible that blows the Cascada out of the water. Unfortunately, production chances are slim despite Buick GMC boss Duncan Aldred saying the "capabilities are there to build it."
As we reported last week, the Avista concept is a contemporary grand tourer that featured a carbon fiber front spoiler, LED headlights, and a prominent grille with mesh inserts. The model also had front fender vents, a dual exhaust system, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
The upscale styling continued in the interior as drivers were surrounded by premium leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, and aluminum accents. The concept was also loaded with technology including a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen controls, and an IntelliLink infotainment system. Other notable features included a panoramic glass roof, noise cancellation technology, and an ionic air purifier with an aromatherapy function.
The concept was powered by a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that featured a start/stop system and cylinder deactivation technology. This enables the engine to be relatively fuel efficient despite boasting 400 horsepower.
