Sky is the limit in the virtual world of tuning and this gives independent artists the freedom to come up with literally any type of renders. Case in point, Khyzyl Saleem decided to infuse some of BMW’s racing heritage in the i8 plug-in hybrid sports car. Needless to say, this is just a styling exercise, but nevertheless the end result is exquisite as this hypothetical race-spec i8 looks great in Procar livery.

The race-ready i8 has been envisioned with a more aerodynamic body featuring a redesigned bumper with a wide lower grille to provide extra cooling. Slammed to the road, the imaginary i8 Procar sits on a set of retro-flavored chunky wheels hosted within the prominent arches that widen the car considerably. The fixed wing at the back completes the look and generates more downforce at the rear axle.

BMW doesn’t plan to come out with a motorsport derivative of the road-going i8, but the Bavarian marque could be cooking a meaner iteration of the standard car. Several rumors are indicating it will happen later this year and the model will be part of BMW’s centenary celebrations. Expect the model to look more aggressive and pack upgraded internals, so the turbo three-cylinder could be replaced with something that has more muscle.

Keep in mind an M8 has been officially ruled out multiple times, so the best-case scenario is a potential i8s.
