The Tipo Sedan went on sale towards the end of last year, so naturally Fiat is now putting the finishing touches on the other two body styles. The Bravo-replacing five-door hatchback will likely be the first to come out in the near future and will be followed by this, the wagon. The latter will effectively serve as a successor for the Stilo Multiwagon and is shaping up to be an interesting choice for those looking for a practical, yet affordable compact wagon.

In terms of design, there’s nothing surprising with this prototype as the front half of the car will essentially be the same as seen on the sedan and hatchback. As you would expect from a wagon, it comes with roof rails and it seems Fiat is opting for low-mounted, sleek bars instead of those that stick out and ruin the design.

The elongated rear end has more in common with the five-door hatchback and features a roof-mounted spoiler incorporating the third brake light. The taillights could be a tad bigger than those on the sedan since the clusters seem to extend further on the tailgate. While the sedan has a trunk capacity of 18.3 cubic feet (520 liters), we estimate the wagon will offer at least 19.4 cu. ft. (550 liters). Fold down the 60:40-split rear bench and the available luggage room will increase considerably.

Power will come from the same pair of naturally-aspirated 1.4- and 1.6-liter engines, along with a more economical duo of turbodiesel 1.3- and 1.6-liter MultiJet II motors. Depending on choice, Fiat will sell the Tipo wagon with five- and six-speed manual gearboxes and a six-speed automatic transmission.

The upcoming Fiat Tipo hatchback and wagon will be produced alongside the sedan in Bursa, Turkey.
