GMC has released the first teaser image of the 2017 Acadia.

GMC has released the first teaser image of the 2017 Acadia.

Set to debut at the North American International Auto Show on January 12th, the redesigned model will usher in a new era of large crossovers from General Motors.

The teaser image doesn't reveal much but it confirms the Acadia will have LED taillights that are separated by a chrome bar with prominent GMC badging.  That's not much to go on but previous spy photos have shown the model will have a prominent grille, a more rakish windscreen, and a sportier greenhouse.  The crossover will also have roof rails and a dual exhaust system.

GMC is keeping details a closely guarded secret but the model is will reportedly ride on an extended version of the Cadillac XT5's platform.  The model is also expected to be smaller and lighter than its predecessor.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but previous reports have suggested the Acadia will be equipped with a new 3.6-liter V6.  There could also be an entry-level variant with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine but nothing is official as of yet.

The GMC Acadia will go on sale this spring, so stay tuned for full details.
