A sedan version will be joining the Renault Megane family next year, Australian media is reporting.

We’ve already heard rumors about the successor of the Fluence, but Megane hatch chief engineer Fabrice Garcia confirmed “a sedan will come also in the coming year,” speaking to Motoring.com.au at the new Megane’s launch in Portugal last week.

It is still not clear whether the new model will be using the 2016 Megane CMF (Common Module Family) platform or it will be based on the previous generation Megane. “I can’t confirm or comment,” he told the site. “It is too soon.”

In both cases, expect familiar 1.5 and 1.6 dCi diesel engines, as well as a couple of turbo petrol units.

On the other hand, the sporty styling of the Megane VI will find its way into the new sedan with yet unconfirmed name. “The dynamic and emotional design is a huge movement in the Renault range,” Garcia commented. “Each model is more dynamic and at the same time more emotional.”

We believe the Megane sedan will be revealed in the first months of 2016, so look for the model at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It will likey wear the Fluence nameplate in Europe.
