Audi seems to have the gold fever as the second-generation R8 V10 Plus has received a shiny finish mimicking the precious metal.

This isn’t one of those fancy optional Individual paints that cost a small fortune as the supercar actually has a full body wrap. It has received this striking look as a nod to its triumph in the Golden Steering Wheel awards in the “sports car” category. The R8 V10 Plus was voted as the best model in its class by the readers of German magazine Auto Bild and you can see the trophy sitting next to the winning car.

If you like this finish and want a real paint, we’re pretty sure Audi is willing to offer something similar if your budget is generous enough for a bespoke Individual hue. This particular car also has a yellow central strip with black borders while the side mirror caps and the rear wing come with a glossy black finish. The front vent fins, carbon side blades, and the rear diffuser have a similar finish also seen on the optional 20-inch alloy wheels.

Now in its second generation, the R8 is about to lose its fixed roof as a Spyder version is on its way and will be revealed sometime next year.
