While we were glancing through the 2016 E-Class interior gallery, we’ve stumbled upon something quite interesting worth sharing.

In one of the pictures you can see several generations of the E-Class sitting side by side for a family portrait. If you look closely, the one on the right is actually the upcoming W213. We have already seen a multitude of spy images with barely disguised prototypes, but now we can actually check out how the front fascia will look in production guise.

There’s another picture revealing the side profile and as you can see it’s the standard wheelbase version. We mention this because recent spy footage has shown Mercedes is working on a longer wheelbase version that could become a part of the Mercedes-Maybach family. However, we are not excluding the possibility it will end up as a simple LWB version. The outgoing E-Class has a stretched version for the Chinese market, but maybe the new one will have global availability.

The 2016 Mercedes E-Class will show up next month in Detroit and hopefully we will have official images of the exterior before its public debut. Several months later, the wagon (T-Modell) will join the party and will be followed in 2017 by the coupe and cabrio.

Note: We also attached the original images that we cropped to create these zoomed-in blurry pics.
