Jaguar Land Rover is apparently interested in making a £22.7M offer to buy the famous Silverstone circuit in UK.
The report issued by Birmingham Post cites sources within JLR saying that if the deal will go through, the plan is to invest in a multi-million pound redevelopment. JLR will reportedly set up shop for sales and marketing staff consisting of up to 1,000 employees and there will also be around 700 engineers. Moreover, there’s going to be a five-star, 200-bedroom hotel and a visitor center for brand experience and training.
Jaguar Land Rover’s new establishment at Silverstone is also said to encompass a special workshop tailored to vehicle specification and handover to VIPs. At the same location where the British Grand Prix takes place, JLR wants to open museums and a heritage center which would have enough space to store and show off the JLR Heritage Fleet.
A source close to the matter said the company has been trying to buy Silverstone for quite some time and the deal has not been finalized just yet. If the papers will be signed, Jaguar Land Rover will use the circuit to test its upcoming cars, while keeping the facility open for the numerous motorsport events.
