We're anxiously awaiting Amazon Prime's new car show staring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May but in the meantime Clarkson has returned in a new spot highlighting the Amazon Prime Air delivery service.

In the clip, Clarkson tells the story of a family whose dog has just eaten one of their daughter's soccer shoes ahead of a big game.  Given the time church, the father orders a new pair of shoes on Amazon and selects Prime Air delivery which promises to deliver them in 30 minutes or less.

The shoes are then transported to a drone by conveyor belts at a nearby Amazon facility and automatically loaded into the drone's cargo compartment.  The drone then takes off vertically and climbs to an altitude of 400 feet (121 meters).  After reaching altitude, the drone transitions into an airplane that can fly up to 15 miles (24 km) by itself thanks to sensors that allow the drone to avoid obstacles on the ground and in the air.

When the drone approaches its landing site, it notifies the buyers and searches for an Amazon landing marker.  When it is found, the drone automatically lands, drops off the package, and returns to the Amazon facility.

In time, Amazon will build a whole family of drones with different designs and purposes for a multitude of environments.
