An officially licensed scale model of the Volvo S90 has emerged onto the web, this time featuring an Onyx Black paint.

While previous scale models were painted in Liquid Blue, now we get to check out the S90 in a more elegant Onyx Black hue featuring a cream interior cabin. It looks nothing like the outgoing S80 and comes with those stylish Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights that debuted on the XC90. This particular scale model has a lot of chrome trim and shows a prominent front grille with a big Volvo logo.

The slightly sloped roofline creates a sleek side profile while the third side windows positioned after the C-pillar indicate the S90 will be significantly larger than the S80. Moving towards the back, there are dual chrome exhaust tips and large C-shaped taillights that extend on the trunk lid where it’s hard not to notice the huge “Volvo” lettering.

From a previous batch of spy images we found out the interior cabin will be essentially carried over from the XC90, albeit with reshaped air vents and other minor tweaks. The elongated wheelbase will generate a lot more rear legroom to boost comfort compared to the S80. Its increased footprint won’t impact weight as the S90 will ride on the SPA platform and will likely end up being lighter than its predecessor.

Volvo published a couple of teaser pics almost a week ago in anticipation of the S90’s official reveal set for January in Detroit. It will be followed a few months later by a more practical V90 wagon that has already showed its face in scale model guise.
