The facelifted Mercedes-Benz SLK that will receive the SLC moniker has been filmed testing on the Nurburgring track in Germany.

It was last week when we heard the range-topping SLC AMG will ditch the 5.5-liter naturally aspirated engine of the current model and now we have a prototype of the SLC stretching its legs on the Nurburgring. We are not sure if this is the AMG model judging by the exterior design, but the exhaust sounds suggest the German company is testing the 3.0-liter V6 biturbo unit that will replace the 5.5 V8.

We already know the model will receive only minor visual changes including revised LED headlights and taillights along with slightly reshaped bumpers and a modified exhaust system. These will be joined by new upholsteries and fresh trims for the interior. The car will also get the company’s latest infotainment system and an array of upgraded or new safety and assistance systems.

In terms of engines, most of the units will likely be carried over from the pre-facelift model, except for the aforementioned 3.0 V6, also seen in the AMG Sport models of the brand where it produces 362 bhp (270 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 382 lb-ft (517 Nm) of torque available between 2,000 rpm and 4,200 rpm.

Mercedes-Benz already confirmed the SLC will be officially revealed in January 2016 during the Detroit Auto Show. The sports coupe will be available for order in December this year with deliveries expected to start in March next year.
