Now in its fourth generation the world’s most popular hybrid can be ordered in the United Kingdom in the following trims: Active, Business Edition, Business Edition Plus and Excel. The base model will set you back £23,295 on-the-road and in return you will get as standard plenty of kit including dual-zone automatic climate control system, smart entry (only for driver’s door), push-button start, LED headlights, Toyota Touch 2 infotainment system (with DAB radio), adaptive cruise control, dual 4.2-inch color multi-info screens and driver’s seat lumbar adjust.

This entry-level Active version has 15-inch alloys and also comes with many safety and assistance systems such as Lane Departure, Alert, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beam and Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking.

If you are willing to move up the range, the Business Edition kicks off at £24,195 and adds a lot of goodies like heated front seats, smart entry (all doors and trunk), more soft touch plastics, color head-up display, wireless phone charger and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also has more safety equipment such as Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitor along with an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The Business Edition Plus costs £25,995 and gets larger 17-inch rims, front & rear parking sensors (with Simple Intelligent Park Assist) and the Toyota Touch 2 with Go infotainment system with satellite navigation and more connectivity functions.

As for the top-of-the-range Excel, it begins at £27,450 and brings full leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers, JBL sound system and the aforementioned Toyota Touch 2 with Go infotainment system but with additional functions.

Customers can order the 2016 Toyota Prius (UK-spec) with an optional black or chrome pack that costs £350 regardless of trim and includes a piano black or bright chrome look for the front fog lamps, side sill trims and the rear diffuser. There’s also a parking pack on the Active and Business Edition for an extra £350 which encompasses front & rear parking sensors while the £300 protection pack compatible with all trims contains front & rear mud flaps, scuff plates, trunk liner and rear bumper protection. There’s even an optional rear-seat entertainment system with DVD players and iPad holders.  

Available on order right now, the fourth generation Toyota Prius will start reaching UK customers from March 1 next year.
