The fifth generation SEAT Ibiza has been speculatively rendered by our colleagues at OmniAuto.it.

Volkswagen-owned SEAT recently applied a very subtle facelift for the Ibiza supermini which will actually be short-lived as the next-gen model has already been confirmed for a 2016 release. The company's most popular model will probably look even more like a smaller Leon and this render is probably close to the real deal.

It is believed the new Ibiza will ride on a shorter version of the MQB architecture that will also serve as foundation for the next generation Volkswagen Polo and Audi A1. A slight increase in size is expected, but that won't make the car heavier as the new platform will probably bring a healthy weight loss. There are also talks concerning a possible crossover coming out in 2017, a year after the hatchback. It will be interesting to see whether SEAT, or better said VAG, still has plans to come out with an Ibiza ST subcompact wagon in the same vein as group partner Skoda Fabia Combi.

Expect the next generation Ibiza to go on sale towards the end of next year, following a possible official premiere in October 2016 at the Paris Motor Show.
