Buick has announced plans to introduce the Verano Hatchback and Verano GS in China later this year.

The teaser image doesn't reveal much but Buick says the hatchback will have flowing bodylines, a floating roofline and a "front grille that is seamlessly connected to wing-shaped headlights."

Power will be provided by a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter SIDI engine which can be connected to either a six-speed manual  or an optional six-speed automatic transmission.

The Verano GS, on the other hand, will feature sporty styling including a black waterfall grille, body stripes, red brake calipers and five-spoke alloy wheels with a dark-painted finish.

A turbocharged 1.5-liter SIDI engine will reside under the hood and produce 166 bhp (124 kW).  It will be connected to a seven-speed DCG transmission which will enable the model to return 5.9 L/100 km (39.8 mpg US / 47.8 mpg UK).
