Ford has announced the 2016 Focus RS will feature a unique stall recovery system.

Designed to eliminate the need to manually restart the engine or move the gear selector into neutral, the stall recovery system simply requires the driver push the clutch pedal.

According to Ford Performance Europe engineering and vehicle manager Tyrone Johnson, "We knew we wanted to put start-stop technology on the RS so we said, 'What if we went one step further, and controlled for engine stall at launch using the same technology?' Well, that's exactly what we did and it's just as fast as our start-stop technology."

Besides announcing the new feature, Ford confirmed the US-spec model will be rated at 350 bhp (261 kW / 354 PS) and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque.  The Euro-spec model, for comparison, develops 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp) and 470 Nm (346 lb-ft) of torque.
