Toyota has prepared a rather odd KIKAI concept for this year's edition of the Tokyo Motor Show.

It's hard to find the right words to describe the KIKAI but it appears to adopt a steampunk theme and mixes up cues from a hot rod and a buggy. Many of its inner bits and pieces are exposed and this makes it look as if it was taken straight from the Wacky Races cartoon.

As far as the interior cabin is concerned, it has a three-seater layout with the driver sitting up front in a central position and with two rear seats. There's also a curved metal bar with four separate dials giving the KIKAI a retro look and you will also notice the small windows in the footwells through which the driver can check out the suspension. Visibility for all three people should be great taking into account the massive side windows which extend onto the roof.

The Toyota KIKAI is a concept built just for fun as there are virtually no chances it will hit the assembly line. Those who find it interesting will be able to check it out starting October 30 at the Tokyo Motor Show where it will be on display together with the S-FR and FCV Plus concepts.
