Mazda has introduced the new MX-5 RS in Japan.

Designed to appeal to driving enthusiasts, the model features a number of performance upgrades including a strut tower bar, beefier brakes and Bilstein dampers.

The interior also receives a modest makeover as it features RECARO Nappa leather / Alcantara sport seats, a nine-speaker Bose audio system and seat heaters.  The model also has an engine "sound enhancer," a lane departure warning system, a blind spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert.

Power is provided by a 1.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine that develops 131 PS (96 kW) and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft) of torque.  It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission.

The MX-5 RS is currently on sale and pricing starts at ¥3,196,800.
