Volkswagen's UK division has revealed their cars powered by gasoline, V6 TDI and V8 TDI engines are not equipped with the defeat device.

There's finally some good news coming from VW as they say all of the gasoline-powered cars are ok as well as the larger models from the group that come with the V6 TDI and V8 TDI motors. This means Porsche is not involved in the ongoing Dieselgate as none of their models were offered with the controversial Euro 5-compliant EA189 engine that has a special software developed with the sole purpose of lowering emissions during official testing.

Volkswagen said last week there are around 5M VW-branded diesel cars out there with the defeat device and now we know 508,276 were sold in UK. In addition, there are 393,450 UK-spec Audis (2.1M total), 131,569 Skodas (1.2M total), 76,773 SEATs (700,000 total) and 79,839 commercial vehicles (1.8M total).

In the following days, Volkswagen UK will provide retailers information regarding the VIN of these cars while a self-serve process will be available for customers to check out whether their cars are affected. VW has previously promised to fix all EA189-powered cars and they will tell us how exactly they plan on doing that next month.
