The 2016 Proton Perdana has made an early debut in a new Malaysian movie called Filem Kapsul.

Proton launched the second generation Perdana mid-size sedan towards the end of 2013 and now they are about ready to apply a facelift on their range-topping model which is actually based on the eight-gen Honda Accord. Compared to the current car, the changes are quite significant, especially at the rear end which now appears to resemble the facelifted Opel Insignia.

The Malaysian D segment model is programmed to go on sale sometime next year with Honda engines, but there also might be an in-house built motor with direct-injection and turbocharger technologies. This assumption is being made by local media after Proton bought all of Petronas' engine technologies back in 2012, but it is not known at this point whether a new engine will be ready in time for the facelifted Perdana's launch.

Aside from these modifications, Proton has already announced they are preparing a new interior cabin to further differentiate the Perdana from the Accord.
