After an announcement made three weeks ago, Nissan has introduced in Frankfurt the 2016 Navara NP300 in European specification.

Boasting a "striking new exterior and interior", Nissan’s overhauled Navara NP300 workhorse has landed on the old continent with a 20 kg (44 lbs) weight loss for the double cab model thanks to a newly developed five-link rear suspension replacing the old leaf spring configuration. It also has a new four-cylinder 2.3-liter dCi engine with 160 PS & 190 PS that's up to 24% more efficient than its predecessor, with Nissan saying it is actually the cleanest and most economical motor in this segment.

The engine will work with a two- or four-wheel drive system receiving power from a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional seven-speed automatic transmission. It boasts a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs) and if you go for the double cab version, it is important to mention that it now has a 67 mm longer load bed (at 1,578 mm) while the king cab's load bed stands at 1,788 mm.

It will be available in Visia, Acenta, N-Connecta and Tekna trims, with standard equipment including seven airbags, hill start assist, electronic braking differential, cruise control and power windows.

As a final note, Nissan will offer the 2016 Navara NP300 (Euro-spec) with a 5-year / 100,000-mile warranty.
