BMW has introduced a trio of special M5 editions in Australia available for purchase right away.

First up, the Pure edition is a new entry-level in the M5 range and has lowered the starting price of the model to $185,000 by eliminating some of the goodies. Nevertheless, it still comes packed with a lot of equipment, including a blue frozen paint (or Individual without extra costs), rearview camera, head-up display, 20-inch M double-spoke wheels and extended Merino leather upholstery. It also boasts sport seats, an active M differential and lots of safety & assistance systems like lane departure warning, pedestrian warning and forward collision warning.

The M5 Pure is powered by the familiar V8 4.4-liter turbocharged engine with 560 PS (412 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox which enables the high-performance sedan to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task in 4.3 seconds.

Upgrade to the M5 Nighthawk or the M5 White Shadow, the power is raised to 575 PS (423 kW) thanks to the Competition Package while torque remains the same at 680 Nm. These two cost $235,930 and will slash 0.1s from the sprint time, but you will have to hurry to get them as BMW Australia is only selling 10 units of each edition. The special edition duo also gets a modified exhaust system, lowered suspension and a revised M Dynamic Mode together with an updated steering system to make handling more direct.

Inside the cabin of these two you will find a Bang & Olufsen sound system, full Merino leather, four-zone automatic climate control system, electric sunroof, Alcantara roof liner and plenty of other kit as standard.

Full details are available in the attached press release.
